Chopper Spirals Out of Control into Palm Groves at Frequented Southern California Beach
An aircraft soaring above a popular coastal beach abruptly started spinning wildly, finally descending rapidly and plunging into a row of palm fronds as spectators looked on.
Recordings uploaded on the internet show the chopper beginning to twirl over Huntington Beach then plunging in the direction of the edge of the beach, where it ends up lodged amidst palms and a set of stairs close to the Pacific Coast highway.
Emergency Response Information
The Huntington Beach fire department stated five individuals were rushed to the hospital comprising two who were in the chopper and were “extracted safely from the crash site” subsequent to the incident on the weekend.
Three persons on the pavement were hurt. Details on their condition were still under review.
What led to the incident was not immediately released.
