Unveiling a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have discovered plenty of engaging indie games. But, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game features a character that is actually a piece of poop attempting to navigate to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is simple: you only need a one button to leap. In 150 levels, encounter boss fights and unlock a shop to buy outfits for your poop character.

Execute your actions with caution, as a mistake means restarting the level. Leap using floating orbs to propel yourself upward, traverse fragile surfaces, and interact with buttons to unlock hidden paths. Gather currency for buying challenging game content in which the action intensifies.

Graphically, the experience features neon stages and an amazing music score. The retro graphics of morphing basic polygons may remind gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to think of similar titles where you control a dung character, gaming often featured fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, players craft throwables from protagonist excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as soil enrichment. Naturally, such content appears a lot in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already received notable accolades, including taking top honors at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is available at present on Steam, with the final release set to launch on computers this November.
